Gary Lineker has revealed he would be delighted to see the England international return to Barcelona and believes the 27-year-old forward would fit into Hansi Flick’s Barca system.

Former England striker Gary Lineker believes signing Marcus Rashford would be good for Barcelona as the 27-year-old forward, who joined on loan from Manchester United, is an “excellent player”.

‘Barca haven’t had an English player for a long time and this is a good signing for Barca. He is a great player,’ Lineker said. ‘He’s had problems at United in the last few years but he’s very talented. He’s very quick, he’s very dangerous and he’s a good guy.’

‘I hope he can show his level. There is a lot of competition and more need for a real player. But Marcus has great skills and I think he would be a great signing for Barca.’

‘We’ll see, because you never know. But I’m very happy to see him in Barcelona, he’s a good friend of mine.’

Lineker then explained where Rashford would be best placed and how Hansi Flick could get the best out of the 27-year-old forward.

‘His best position is left wing and he can also play as a centre forward. He is very fast with the ball at his feet. His best position is left wing.’

‘Flick’s style of play at Barca is very good for him because he is very dangerous.’

Lineker also blamed United for Rashford’s struggles in recent years. ‘The problem is Manchester United, they have a lot of problems and the fact that Marcus doesn’t play a lot of games. But the ones that go will do well elsewhere.’
